William "Bill" Eddins
Duties: The State Attorney is charged with being the chief prosecuting officer of all criminal trial courts in his respective circuit and performs all other duties prescribed by general law. Administers approximately 230 positions, including approximately 80 Assistant State Attorneys, from Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties in the First Judicial Circuit.
Education: Ponce de Leon High School, 1964; attended Chipola Junior College; graduated from Troy State University, 1968; graduated from Florida State University law school, 1972.
Work History: Worked as a school teacher and coach in Holmes County from 1968 to 1970, Santa Rosa County prosecutor from 1973 to 1975; private practice from 1975 to 1978; Assistant State Attorney from 1978 to 1979; in private practice from 1979 to 2004. Serving as State Attorney, 1st Judicial Circuit since 3 January, 2005.
Family: Wife, Lisa; one son; two stepsons; one stepdaughter.
